The Grenzlandtheater Aachen with its eight productions per season has committed itself to the modern topical dramatic art. The programme presents classics (like "Faust I", "Nathan the Wise", "Don Carlos", "Romeo and Juliet") and the "modern" classics (like "All of my Sons") and the topical modern drama (like "Ghetto", "Copenhagen", "Enigma", "The Verdict") as well as demanding entertainment (like "Smoker/Non Smoker", "Three Lives") and musicals (like "Cabaret", "Blue Jeans", "My Fair Lady").

Apart form the permanent employees has the Grenzlandtheater Aachen no permanent ensemble. Vacancies and roles are being filled from the big circle of free-lance directors and actors, who have been committed to the stage for years.

The Grenzlandtheater covers the production costs, takes full advantage of its space and is so not only artistically but also economical very successful. It lies with these numbers at the top of all public stages in North Rhine-Westphalia and at second place in Germany.

Through co-productions with other theatres and through tour-businesses organised resp. own guest performances (among others in Nuremberg, Frankfurt a.M., Essen) has the house made itself a name far beyond its region.
